Description

The SOBA Precision Self-Centring Vice with Swivel Base is designed for quick, accurate and repeatable workpiece positioning across milling, drilling and general machining applications.

Its opposing-thread mechanism moves both jaws simultaneously, automatically positioning the workpiece at the centre of the vice. This is particularly useful when performing the same machining operation on workpieces of different sizes, helping reduce setup time and the need to reposition the machine.

Each vice is manufactured from close-grained, high-tensile cast iron for strength, rigidity and stability. The ground and hardened jaws deliver dependable workpiece holding, while the positively locking 360° swivel base allows the vice to be set at the required working angle.

Available in five sizes with jaw widths ranging from 50mm (2") to 150mm (6").

How the Self-Centring Mechanism Works

Turning the operating handle moves both jaws towards or away from the centre simultaneously. This automatically centres the workpiece within the vice, allowing differently sized components to be positioned using the same machine-centre setting.

This design is especially beneficial for:

  • Centre drilling
  • Boring operations
  • Repetitive milling
  • Batch machining
  • Components with varying external dimensions
  • Applications requiring consistent centre positioning

Suitable For

  • Milling machines
  • Drilling machines
  • Toolrooms
  • Engineering workshops
  • Metalworking facilities
  • Maintenance workshops
  • Educational and training environments
  • Precision and repetitive machining

Included

  • 1 × SOBA Precision Self-Centring Vice in the selected size
  • 1 × 360° Swivel Base
  • 1 × Operating Handle

Important Note

Select the appropriate vice size according to your machine-table dimensions, mounting-slot configuration, available clearance, workpiece size and machine capacity. Confirm compatibility before ordering.
