Laser Class
Laser Class
Laser classes are categories assigned to lasers based on their potential to cause harm to humans, particularly to the eyes and skin. The classification system is designed to indicate the level of risk associated with the laser's power output and wavelength, guiding the necessary safety precautions for their use. The classes range from Class 1 (safest) to Class 4 (most hazardous).

Class 1: Safe under all conditions of normal use. Used in CD/DVD players, laser printers, barcode scanners. No special precautions needed.

Class 1M: Safe except when viewed with optical instruments. Used in fiber optic systems, measurement tools. Avoid using optical instruments to view the beam.

Class 2: Safe for brief exposure due to blink reflex. Used in laser pointers, alignment lasers. Do not stare into the beam.

Class 2M: Safe for brief exposure unless viewed with optical instruments. Used in alignment tools, rangefinders. Avoid using optical instruments to view the beam.

Class 3R: Low risk of injury, up to 5 mW. Used in laser pointers, alignment lasers. Avoid direct eye exposure.

Class 3B: Can cause eye and skin injuries, up to 500 mW. Used in research, some medical devices. Use safety goggles and avoid direct exposure.

Class 4: High risk, can cause severe injuries and fire hazards, above 500 mW. Used in industrial cutting, welding, medical, research. Use protective equipment and follow strict safety measures.

Laser Invisible Wavelength (Nm)
Laser Invisible Wavelength (Nm)
Invisible wavelengths refer to electromagnetic radiation that falls outside the visible spectrum, meaning they cannot be perceived by the human eye. These wavelengths range from ultraviolet (UV) through infrared (IR), encompassing frequencies shorter or longer than those of visible light (approximately 400 nm to 700 nm).

Laser products operate at various wavelengths, ranging from visible (450 nm) to near-infrared (1064 nm), rated for high-efficiency industrial applications. These wavelengths, whether visible or invisible to the human eye, are optimised for tasks including cutting, welding, and cleaning.

Safety Considerations:
UV radiation can cause skin damage and eye injuries.
IR radiation, especially at high power levels, can cause burns and eye damage without proper protection.

Safety Notice:
Laser Class: Ranges from Class 1 to Class 4
Eye Protection: Use laser safety goggles rated for the specific wavelength of the laser product.
Fire Risk: Keep flammable materials away from the laser beam path to prevent fire hazards.
Enclosures: Ensure lasers are operated within appropriate safety enclosures and with proper warning labels.

Applications:
450 nm (Visible): Suitable for tasks requiring visible light, such as alignment and pointing.
700 nm - 1064 nm (Near-Infrared): Ideal for precision cutting, industrial welding, surface cleaning, and scientific research.

The use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as laser safety glasses or goggles must be worn. These PPE must be specifically designed for the wavelength and power of the laser being used, and must be worn at all times when working with the laser to protect against eye injury. Protective Clothing: Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin exposure.

Appropriate workshop signage must be used and appropriate safety barriers.
